Thank you very much for all the replies, you are all awesome! I’ll try painting a patch with acrylic and see how it goes, then proceed to a t-shirt if all goes well. Otherwise, I’ll just get the fabric medium.

Has anyone here ever tried painting on fabric with acrylic paint? Does it work? How different is it from actual fabric paint?

I took Branka’s advice and combined both ideas. The top fits inside the rectangle while the bottom is cut around the design.
