Has anyone here ever tried painting on fabric with acrylic paint? Does it work? How different is it from actual fabric paint?

  1. raven-horn answered: use white outdoor house paint, works better
  2. duderult answered: I used to do that, you can buy stuff to mix in with it that basically turns it into fabric paint.
  3. ratfacelobotomy answered: You have to stretch the shirt across a flat surface so it lays flat. Otherwise the shirt will buckle and the paint will be difficult to apply
  4. metalographerphotography answered: It is a little bit more stubborn in the application process, but it dries fast, and it lasts a very long time. That shit does not come off!
  5. rachmangler answered: It works so long as it goes unwashed. Mix flat with gloss half and half and once it’s worn in it has a nice sheen to it
  6. unholycopulation answered: yes you have to do about 2 layers let it dry then get a damp wash cloths and iron over where you paint to get it to stay longer.
  7. dixiewhiskey92 answered: make sure to put a piece of cardboard or something sturdy in side the shirt, to prevent the front bleeding onto the back
  8. badforyerhealth answered: it takes forever to dry and usually will bleed through the other side. when it drys finally, it hardens and cracks a bit.
  9. diamondfordisease answered: try finding a fabric paint mixing medium, it’ll help it adhere, add flexibility etc. you can find it at most art stores!
